The New Evangelization: Kansas Style!

Welcome to a new initiative from the Evangelization Office of the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas. EVANGELIZED KANSAS will serve as a platform for hearts in Kansas that have been set on fire with love for Jesus Christ, his Church, and the New Evangelization.  It will feature multiple contributors from throughout the Archdiocese of Kansas City that strive to follow the command of Jesus Christ: "Go and make disciples" (Matthew 28:19).  Contributors are encouraged to highlight their own efforts in the New Evangelization - new methods, new expressions, and especially new ardor.

Hopefully, this initiative will encourage more disciples of Jesus Christ to live out their vocation of proclaiming Jesus Christ as Lord.  I chose the title "EVANGELIZED KANSAS" because all of the contributors are examples of those who have experienced being evangelized (though admittedly, we are all in need of constant renewal and being re-evangelized).  Hopefully, we may provide an example of what those already evangelized should be doing - sharing the gift we have received - even if we do so imperfectly.  Also, the title is a reminder that Kansas has already been evangelized, but, like most areas that are former mission territories, is in need of the New Evangelization.

I personally join this initiative after being named the Director of Evangelization for the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas.  In addition to serving in this new role, I continue to be an associate pastor at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Olathe, KS.  Ordained a priest in 2009, I am in my fifth year serving at Prince of Peace and was the chaplain at St. Thomas Aquinas High School for four years.  Besides my official assignments, I've been privileged to be the co-director for the Totus Tuus youth program in Kansas City and a lapsed contributor at Shameless Popery.

Please share this new initiative and participate in the discussions.  Pray for all efforts of the New Evangelization and be assured of my prayers for everyone who visits EVANGELIZED KANSAS.

May the Holy Spirit guide out efforts, the mantle of Our Blessed Mother wrap us up, and the zeal of the Apostles fill our hearts!
